WHAT AI CHANGES IN US

zero1cast AI & Creativity

CREATIVE RENAISSANCE?

Faster tools. Harder questions.

AI is changing how we write, design, film, code, compose, and create. But faster production does not automatically produce better culture.

Through philosophy, psychology, culture, and firsthand creative practice, the show investigates the possibilities and contradictions of a creative renaissance emerging around AI, its new forms of expression, and its inseparable light and shadow.

HOSTED BY ODAIR FALECO

Hosted by award-winning filmmaker and creative director Odair Faleco, zero1cast explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping creativity, originality, authorship, ethics, human behavior, and what it means to create.

For those who want to go beyond the hype.

#13 What is Creativity? AI forces us to decide.

We keep arguing about whether AI is creative, whether it is killing creativity, or whether it is about to unlock a new cultural renaissance. Small problem: we still do not fully agree on what creativity actually is. In this episode, I look at different definitions of creativity, from personal discovery and everyday problem-solving to professional practice and ideas that genuinely transform a field. We move through visual art, music, mathematics, design, coding, and filmmaking—and ask whether all of these are really the same kind of creative act. I also talk about my own experience. Since I started working with generative AI, I have rarely felt more creatively active. Not because the machine suddenly gave me better ideas, but because it helped me turn ideas that used to remain trapped in my head into images, scenes, sounds, and films. We also explore the stranger side of the debate: while we worry that machines are becoming more human, humans have spent decades doing repetitive, mechanical work that machines were supposedly invented to handle. Very efficient. Slightly tragic. So, can machines create art? Is creativity located in the object, the process, the intention, or the audience? And are we becoming more creative—or simply more productive? Maybe creativity is not disappearing. Maybe it is moving...
